Tommy Watt, curator of the Shetland Museum, has passed on.
A gentle, kind, and decent man, who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
My thoughts are with his nearest and dearest at this sad time.

I met the man a few times, my Dad worked with him in the old building and I was lucky to see behind the counter. Several times Tommy helped me with a odd bit of research, a man always willing to impart what he knew to those who did not know.
ReplyDeleteHe and my Dad would have their differences but would always revel in what they found in the back rooms, the greatest of which I think was the time capsule at the Garrison. Thanks Tommy, will miss ya
I have many happy memories of Tommy, from the days when I was involved with the sailing at Sandwick, as guard boat driver. I'll never forget the night I gave Tommy's girlfriend a fast run home to Sandwick from the Interclub Regatta, in the Sandwick guardboat. 40hp at full throttle, and she loved it.
ReplyDeleteTommy was one of life's genuine gentlemen. A great loss.
I'm with you on that one Auld Een - he taught my wife to dive several years ago & she was very sad to hear of his passing.
